A Sea Symphony at QPAC
26 July 2007
It's been 20 years since Ralph Vaughan Williams' first symphony, A Sea Symphony, was performed in Brisbane, and on 19 August, a cast of 200 performers will ensure its return to Brisbane in a fitting tribute, combining the Queensland Youth Symphony, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and Brisbane Chorale at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
A landmark event to celebrate an important milestone, the Queensland Conservatorium's 50th anniversary, the concert also features a line-up of esteemed guest performers.
Internationally acclaimed Soprano Rosemary Arthars, a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium, and baritone Arthur Johnson will join with the Brisbane Chorale and the Conservatorium Chamber Choir and the Queensland Youth Symphony to present this epic work, led by conductor John Curro AM MBE and Choir Director Emily Cox.
The concert also features one of Italy's foremost concert pianists, Marcella Crudeli, who will perform Robert Schumann's romantic Piano Concerto in A minor, Op.54.
