Jane Scott

New Cultural Attaché in Washington DC

09 May 2007

As Director of the Monash Gallery of Art, Jane Scott has been responsible for the growth and development of this metropolitan public gallery which opened in 1990, as an initiative of the City of Monash.
Located in Wheelers Hill, with views of the Dandenong Ranges, MGA is a popular destination for art and photography enthusiasts, attracting over 60,000 visitors a year.
Originally designed by iconic architect, Harry Seidler, MGA underwent a major redevelopment by Melbourne-based architects, Sanderson Cox in 2002, which doubled the size of the building whilst remaining true to Seidler's original design. A Sculpture Park is a recent innovation.
Those who recall the significant contribution that Penny Amberg and others have made in the role of Cultural Attaché in Washington DC realise just what a valuable contribution can be made to the arts in Australia and internationally through this office. State of the Arts wishes Jane every success in continuing this tradition.
