TinAlley String Quartet represents Australia in International Chamber Music Competition

Chamber Music Australia is once again hosting the 5th Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in which 16 of the world's best string quartets and piano trios have been invited to Melbourne in July to compete before an international jury and passionate audience for invaluable prizes and concert engagements. TinAlley String Quartet is the only Australian entry in the Competition.

Preliminary recitals will be conducted from 7 to 13 July at the Australian National Academy of Music, South Melbourne Town Hall with the finals being held on 15 July at Hamer Hall, The Arts Centre, Melbourne. In addition, there will be programs of Chamber Music in the City held at various venues in the Melbourne CBD on 14 July.

The Judging panel comprises: Julian Burnside QC (Australia – Chairman of the Jury), Eckart Heiligers (Germany – Piano, Trio Jean Paul), Wu Han (USA – Pianist), Caroline Henbest (Australia – Viola), Lawrence Lesser (USA – Cello, New England Conservatory), Istaván Párkányi (Netherlands – Violin, Parkanyi Quartet, formerly Orlando Quartet), Alexander Pavlovsky (Israel – Violin, Jerusalem Quartet), Lesley Robertson (USA –Viola, St Lawrence String Quartet), Julian Smiles (Australia – Cello, Goldner String Quartet).
