Official call for entries for the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE
DESIGN DISCOVERY AWARD 2006 incorporating the inaugural Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award Exhibition at Object Gallery in Sydney.
Key Dates:
ENTRIES ACCEPTED NOW until – 02 JUNE 06.
FIRST ROUND JUDGING – 14 JUNE 06
The top 10 finalists in the main award and student category
will be selected by a panel of industry leaders.
2006 BOMBAY SAPPHIRE DESIGN DISCOVERY AWARD & EXHIBITION AT OBJECT GALLERY, SYDNEY – SEPTEMBER through OCTOBER 06
The exhibition will feature pieces from the 10 DDA finalists'
body of work, professionally curated by Object Gallery.
SECOND ROUND JUDGING – SEPTEMBER 06
The 10 main award finalists will present their portfolio
to the judging committee within the EXHIBITION
WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT AND VIP EVENT – OCTOBER 06
The Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Awards will shift into a new gear this year with an exciting improved format for viewing and judging entrants.
"We recognize the need to enhance the Awards and give further exposure to our entrants by reviewing not just one entry piece but selected pieces of entrants' design portfolio. In order to fully exploit the incredible talent presented to us we have involved Object Gallery to facilitate our growing needs." said Bacardi Lion's Managing Director, Colin Rochester.
"The new CALL FOR ENTRIES period from February to June, allows Object to create a worthy collection of up to 30 works for a public exhibition during September and October. We are very excited to be working with Bombay Sapphire whom we admire for their support of design in a truly global manner.
"We feel extremely honoured to be asked to participate in this way. It is a huge step forward for the Design Discovery Awards and an incredible opportunity for entrants." remarks Object Gallery Director, Steven Pozel.
Prizes:
MAIN PRIZE $20,000 + TRIP TO MILAN
Rewarding the best in emerging, contemporary, functional design, entries are now being accepted from non commercial designers.
Australia's most prestigious Design Award offers financial assistance in the form of a scholarship of $20, 000 plus a trip to the Salon del Mobile in Milan where the winner will join Australian design leaders at the worlds biggest design fair.
FOUR RUNNERS UP WILL RECEIVE PRIZES TO THE VALUE OF $2,500
VOGUE LIVING will also present the 'PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD'
which will allow the public to judge the 10 finalists' work. The winner will receive prizes to the value of $2,000.
STUDENT PRIZE $2,000
Also offered for the second year is an entry level prize for students of design.
