The Australian Music Prize announces 8 finalists for 2006

The Australian Music Prize Ltd (in its inaugural year - known as The Amp 2005), with partner, The PPCA and principal sponsors BigPond Music and MCM Entertainment and all our 20 industry sponsors have announced this year's BigPond Music Shortlist 8.
The following artists and albums have been shortlisted:

Thet winner will be announced on March 8 at The BigPond Music Winners Event, to be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. The $25,000 cash prize, provided by PPCA is in recognition of their music excellence.
In addition to the assistance of the cash prize, the recipient of The Amp 2005 will gain increased and widespread exposure which will serve to enhance their career paths both locally and internationally.
