Morag Fraser AM joins the judging panel for the Miles Franklin Literary Award

In joining the Judging Panel for the Miles Franklin Literary Award 2005, Morag Fraser AM joins Ms Eve Abbey, Professor Robert Dixon, Mr Ian Hicks and the State Librarian of NSW, Dagmar Schmidmaier AM.
Morag Fraser AM’s current position is as Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at La Trobe University. She was Chair of the Melbourne Writers Festival from 2001 to 2004 and editor of Eureka Street magazine from 1991 to 2003. Ms Fraser has also judged The Age Book of the Year, the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award and the Human Rights Award.
The Miles Franklin Literary Award is Australia’s first and most prestigious literary award. It was established in 1954 with a bequest from the author Miles Franklin. She wanted to see Australian literature flourish and knew first hand, the struggles most authors have to endure in Australia.
